Over a decade ago, I watched Amy Cuddy’s popular Ted Talk Your Body Language may shape who you are and it made perfect sense to me as a yoga teacher. It reminded me how yoga poses are never random. When I get into warrior pose, I do feel a little more like a warrior. Maybe not quite the Wonder Woman, but definitely more powerful than when I hunch over my keyboard. Taking up space is central to my yoga teaching. I love expansive yoga postures that open our heart and help us channel our power.
The following 9 minute practice builds up on last week’s The Foundations of Warrior. If you haven’t watched that video, I highly recommend you start there first.
The practice I offer here infuses Warrior with extra power. Important to note: Power, but not aggression! As I explain in the video below:
And as a general reminder, Please, Be Kind to Yourself, Always! Only you know the full capacity and limitations of your body. If something doesn’t feel right, please don’t attempt it. While I always offer alternatives, certain poses and practices might just not be right on certain days. You can also try this practice against a wall, as we did in the last Clinic. My hope is that you will find/ channel your warior power that will help you aim higher, towards your wildest dreams!
Enjoy!
And as always, please don’t be shy to share your experience, and request special practices. That’s what I’m here for!
